About Me

Howdy, I'm Lee Fent, star of television, stage, and all-around rascal. At least part of what is written on this site is truthful, and at least part of it, by default, isn't truthful. But, at least it's all written down.

Mostly I'm a web developer, for some value of both web and developer. I've written web application in ASP.NET, Groovy/Grails, PHP, (shudder) classic ASP, Java, Python, Javascript, and even trusty old Perl. I find Grails, with it's combination of Groovy's syntatic sugar and easy access to the powerful Java ecosystem, to be a very productive environment, but can pretty much get it done in any of those languages.

The other part is that I've been known to write software for other systems. I've worked with ASTM, HL7, DICOM, and a whole slew of other data formats and interchanges. Software I've writen is used in several hospitals around the country. If the thought of lives and quality of care depending on your software doesn't scare you, I don't know what will.

As a cruel trick of fate, I also administrate a variety of machines. Currently I'm in charge of about a half a dozen web servers and various other service providers such as SVN and MySQL. Generally my servers are running CentOS or Windows Server. I've been working with Ansible to make my life a little easier.
